Understanding how current campsite information is

A map record does not guarantee that a campsite is open today. Read its sources, visit dates and unknown facilities together.

A record and current operating status differ

A campsite name and coordinates can have a reliable source while access rules, seasonal use or facilities have changed. Publication in Qorax and being open on your intended visit date are separate facts. Check current announcements from the operator or responsible authority before setting out.

Read dates alongside sources

The source link explains where the record came from. A visit report describes what a member observed on a particular date. Do not treat an old photo as evidence of current conditions. Water or facilities visible in a picture may not be available in every season.

Unknown is useful information

Facilities such as water, toilets and access can be available, unavailable or unknown. Unknown does not mean unavailable. When submitting a visit report, select only what you directly observed.

  • Choose the actual date of your visit.
  • Clearly describe closure or access restrictions.
  • Keep other people’s private information out of photos.

How corrections are used

Visit reports contribute to the current summary after review. An older visit should not reverse more recent verified information. If conditions change again, submit a new dated report. Share your experience in campsite comments and use the Information Hub to find related forum topics and your own trip plans.
